Crafting a Resilient Supply Chain: Sailing Through Turbulence

The challenge involved in running a global supply chain is how companies meet their goals, how they manage their supply chains. Other than factors like greater complexity of products and services, higher energy prices, and increasing financial volatility, global supply chain strategic goals is being determined by factors like reducing costs, and getting products faster to market.

The question is how to develop a resilient supply chain model? A model that would be flexible enough to incorporate new changes, be robust at testing times and stay tough, for example even during major disruptions like natural disasters, terrorist attacks, and wars companies should be able to continue operations with minimal impact on their supply chain processes while other companies might experience delays or complete shutdowns.

Most businesses are ill-prepared to handle the rising risk levels. Concerns about supply chain risks and supplier issues are reverberating in boardrooms and among shareholder groups throughout the world. The challenge remains how organizations build robust but flexible systems needed to manage these issues effectively? How the “silos” nature of supply chain functions can be integrated with the organization systems and processes seamlessly?
